I was raised in a Christian home by parents that possessed a deep abiding love for God, His Word, and for the participation in the local church. For as far back as I can remember, my sister and I always knew that God loved us, that Christ had been given for our sins, and that faith in Him was necessary for salvation.
Between conversations about Christ and the Bible at home and our routine participation in our local church, my knowledge of the scriptures began to grow. I came to understand that I was a sinner in need of redemption and that Jesus paid for my sin at the cross. I first heard the Gospel during my elementary school years, but it was only a factual understanding of it, not an actual trusting relationship with Jesus Christ for my salvation.
When I was in Highschool at the age of 17 I first became a true believer in Jesus Christ. My High School Youth Pastor took me aside and explained the Gospel to me in a way that was extremely clear and convicting. For the first time I truly saw the payment for my sin in a deep and convicting way, which was then used by God in that moment to lead me to faith in Jesus Christ.
Ever since that time I have always been an active participant in a Bible believing, local church. Thankfully God has always provided a local Body to gather with, whether it be when I was away at college or when I moved back to Texas. God has always used His church to bring the truth of scripture to my life in order for me to continue forward in my journey of sanctification.
